St. Bernadette School uses the Omaha Archdiocesan Standards based on the Nebraska State Standards to drive, plan and implement our school’s curriculum and School Improvement Plan. Our academic curriculum includes religion, reading, language arts, handwriting, phonics, spelling math, social studies, science, physical education, health, technology, art and library.
Our Pre-Kindergarten program is staffed by a certified teacher with an early childhood endorsement and a full-time teacher assistant. We use Creative Curriculum, a curriculum that focuses on the developmental milestones of 3-5 year old students. The curriculum is hands-on and engaging for all students. Students learn basic life skills, social skills and academic skills to prepare them for Kindergarten.
Students in grades 6-8 have the opportunity to participate in electives. Students can choose to participate in elective classes. They can choose four electives per year. The electives are integrated into the curriculum based on areas of interest.
Junior High Choir
Our Junior High Math program is taught and graded using a Standards Based Learning Model. Students have the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of concepts by focusing on daily objectives. Students are encouraged to retake all objectives until mastery is achieved. Students in grades 6-8 are placed in math classes based on Terra Nova test scores, in-class performance grades and teacher recommendation. Math courses will include 6th Grade Math, 7th Grade Math, Pre-Algebra and Algebra. Those students who are ready for Geometry in 8th Grade have the opportunity to receive math instruction at Gross Catholic High School.
