Strong community. Rooted in faith.
Academic Excellence.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Dear Families,

At St. Bernadette (SBS), everything we do is built around educating the whole child. Academically, our students are challenged by a strong, standards-based curriculum with instruction from experienced teachers who meet each child at their level of learning.

Our faith is the heart of our school. Student-led Masses, all-school rosaries, Adoration, community service projects and exceptional religion, art and music classes weave Christ into the rhythm of our days.

With the guidance of our pastor, Fr. Boyd, along with our entire school staff, the spiritual and emotional needs of each student are cared for with the same intention we bring to academics.

St. Bernadette is a school where your child will thrive. We have one classroom per grade by design. Teachers will know your child, and they are invested in helping each one succeed in faith, in the classroom and in life.

I’d love for you to come see our school for yourself. An in-person visit is the best way to experience what makes SBS special. We are so happy you’re considering our school, and I invite you to reach out anytime through our website or by calling our school office to schedule a tour.

— Mrs. Lynn Schulz, Principal

A School That Feels Like Family

Nestled on five acres alongside Gross Catholic High School, we offer something that South Omaha and Sarpy County families are looking for but don’t always find – a school that’s small enough to know every child and strong enough to prepare them for what’s next. Our community is close-knit and centered on faith. There are deep and genuine relationships between students, teachers and families. Starting as young as preschool, students grow up together here, with most continuing with us through eighth grade. The majority of our students then continue to a Catholic high school, already confident in their skills and God-given potential.

I am thankful for going to St. Bernadette School because I have met most of my friends here. The teachers are kind and caring, along with our principal, who without her, this school wouldn’t be possible. I have learned so much here, especially in religion. I enjoy going to mass and receiving the sacraments. I have grown so much throughout the past few years, and none of this would have been possible if I had never gone to St. Bernadette.

I love seeing students grow, from beginning to end of the year. I love their questions and their curiosity. I love being Catholic. I am able to share my faith at school and able to talk about Jesus and start every morning with prayer.

My son loves going to St. Bernadette because of the great teachers he has, the friends he has made and the robotics team!

Over the past few years, our students have faced challenges with reading and writing skills, likely influenced in part by COVID. Thanks to teachers' focused efforts to strengthen literacy—especially in 5th grade—I’ve seen significant improvements in my 5th-8th grade Social Studies students. Their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills have grown tremendously. I’ve also noticed stronger cross-curricular connections throughout the school, with concepts being reinforced across multiple subjects. These improvements are creating meaningful learning experiences now and will continue to benefit our students in the years ahead.

SBS Teacher

Switching our children to St. Bernadette School was one of the best decisions we have ever made. Before SBS, my son struggled academically, but the consistency of having the same teachers for core subjects each year allowed them to understand his learning style and helped him thrive. My daughter also received the support and encouragement she needed and was more than prepared for high school.

What truly sets SBS apart is the sense of community. The staff genuinely knows and cares about each child and family—you are never just another face in the crowd. SBS is more than a school; it is a family, and I couldn't imagine my children being anywhere else. We truly are Blessed at SBS.

From the moment we walked through the doors, Saint Bernadette felt like home. Our family was welcomed into a community where our children are truly known, valued, and encouraged to grow.

The teachers and staff lead by example, living their Catholic faith each day while creating a nurturing environment where students thrive academically, spiritually, and personally. Small class sizes and compassionate teachers challenge our children to reach their full potential while fostering kindness, respect, and a love of learning.

Choosing Saint Bernadette has been one of the best decisions we've made for our children's education and well-being. We are grateful to be part of a community that truly feels like family.

A SUPPORTIVE FAITH COMMUNITY

St. Bernadette School and St. Bernadette Parish are deeply connected – literally and figuratively. Students enjoy walking over to the church, right outside the school office, for frequent Adoration time, student-led Masses and more. We love that there’s a community of parishioners and parent volunteers who show up for our kids. Plus, St. Bernadette is part of the Omaha Catholic School Consortium. The Consortium is a network of six Catholic schools and 16 parishes, including ours. Registered families from St. Bernadette, or any of the 16 Consortium-supporting parishes, are eligible for a $500 tuition discount.
