Where Students Grow, Serve and ShineAt St. Bernadette School, learning extends far beyond the classroom. Students are encouraged to discover their talents, build friendships, grow in confidence and strengthen their faith through athletics, fine arts, leadership opportunities and school traditions. Whether participating on the court, performing in a school play, creating artwork or singing at Mass, students are invited to explore their interests in a supportive Catholic community. |
One of the unique advantages of being part of the St. Bernadette School family is the close partnership with Gross Catholic High School. This relationship provides students with expanded opportunities, shared experiences and access to exceptional facilities and programs that enrich student life from Preschool through 8th grade.
Students at St. Bernadette School have opportunities to build teamwork, sportsmanship and school pride through a variety of athletic programs and activities.

Thanks to the partnership with Gross Catholic High School, students benefit from shared athletic and event spaces, including use of the gymnasium, track, auditorium and other campus facilities. Special traditions such as the Tiger Trot, school spirit events and all-campus Masses help strengthen the connection between both school communities.
Creativity is celebrated at St. Bernadette School through art, music, theater and performance opportunities that allow students to express their God-given talents.
Students regularly participate in art contests and special creative projects throughout the year, including:
The popular “Art in the Afternoon” club gives junior high students the opportunity to explore their creativity in a more independent setting. Eighth grade students are encouraged to design self-directed projects using a variety of artistic mediums while experimenting with new ideas and techniques.

Music is an important part of student life and faith formation at St. Bernadette School. Students participate in Christmas and spring concerts, school liturgies and special performances throughout the year.
Junior high choir students sing at school events, concerts, nursing homes and Masses, including opportunities to participate alongside Gross Catholic High School students.
St. Bernadette School also has its own band program directed by Gross Catholic band director Nick Romero. Student musicians have opportunities to perform at concerts as well as select basketball and football games, helping students grow both musically and personally.
Students in grades 6–8 can participate in robotics, choir, theater productions and other extracurricular experiences that encourage leadership, collaboration, and confidence.
The spring school play is a favorite tradition each year, giving students the chance to audition, perform and work together to bring stories to life on stage. Past productions and performances have included creative student showcases such as talent shows and humorous productions like Big Bad (a trial for the wolf inspired by classic fairy tales) and the Great American Talent Show.
Robotics students develop problem-solving and teamwork skills while exploring STEM concepts in a fun, hands-on environment. Our teams compete against other junior high schools in competitions throughout the state and Midwest. There are also National and International competitions for qualifying teams.
We invite your family to explore all that makes our school special. Schedule a tour to see our classrooms, meet our students and teachers and experience firsthand the strong partnership, welcoming environment and opportunities that help students thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
