Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten at SBS

A Welcoming Community Where Children Learn, Laugh and Grow

St. Bernadette offers preschool and pre-K for young learners. Our early childhood program gives children a safe, caring and faith-filled start to their education.
Teachers help develop each child’s unique gifts while encouraging growth in confidence, curiosity and kindness. Rooted in Catholic values, students in our classrooms explore and learn through hands-on activities, play, structured routines and lessons to make school feel comfortable and fun.

Daily Routine for Preschool
and Pre-K Students

Every day at St. Bernadette begins with prayer and a warm welcome. Children enjoy circle activities, music, story time and more – all designed to support the whole child. Our teachers create a rhythm that helps children adjust and learn.

  • Academic Development

Our preschool and pre-K curriculum builds strong early skills in reading, math and language, as well as social-emotional skills. Children learn through free play, hands-on activities and guided lessons. Early literacy is a key focus. Students who come into our kindergarten from our early childhood classrooms are well-prepared and ready to keep learning.

  • Faith Development

Early childhood students will learn traditional Catholic prayers and hear Bible stories that teach God’s love. Teachers model faith through words and actions in the classroom, so children can see that faith is something they can live joyfully, too.

  • Character Development

Here, our early childhood students build friendships, learn to work and play together, and begin exploring the world around them in a safe, faith-filled environment.

At St. Bernadette, teachers guide students to be responsible, kind and confident. Your child will learn how to care for themselves and others. Serving-learning experiences help children grow in compassion, which is part of what makes a Catholic education so valuable.

I am thankful for going to St. Bernadette School because I have met most of my friends here. The teachers are kind and caring, along with our principal, who without her, this school wouldn’t be possible. I have learned so much here, especially in religion. I enjoy going to mass and receiving the sacraments. I have grown so much throughout the past few years, and none of this would have been possible if I had never gone to St. Bernadette.

I love seeing students grow, from beginning to end of the year. I love their questions and their curiosity. I love being Catholic. I am able to share my faith at school and able to talk about Jesus and start every morning with prayer.

My son loves going to St. Bernadette because of the great teachers he has, the friends he has made and the robotics team!

Over the past few years, our students have faced challenges with reading and writing skills, likely influenced in part by COVID. Thanks to teachers' focused efforts to strengthen literacy—especially in 5th grade—I’ve seen significant improvements in my 5th-8th grade Social Studies students. Their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills have grown tremendously. I’ve also noticed stronger cross-curricular connections throughout the school, with concepts being reinforced across multiple subjects. These improvements are creating meaningful learning experiences now and will continue to benefit our students in the years ahead.

SBS Teacher

Switching our children to St. Bernadette School was one of the best decisions we have ever made. Before SBS, my son struggled academically, but the consistency of having the same teachers for core subjects each year allowed them to understand his learning style and helped him thrive. My daughter also received the support and encouragement she needed and was more than prepared for high school.

What truly sets SBS apart is the sense of community. The staff genuinely knows and cares about each child and family—you are never just another face in the crowd. SBS is more than a school; it is a family, and I couldn't imagine my children being anywhere else. We truly are Blessed at SBS.

From the moment we walked through the doors, Saint Bernadette felt like home. Our family was welcomed into a community where our children are truly known, valued, and encouraged to grow.

The teachers and staff lead by example, living their Catholic faith each day while creating a nurturing environment where students thrive academically, spiritually, and personally. Small class sizes and compassionate teachers challenge our children to reach their full potential while fostering kindness, respect, and a love of learning.

Choosing Saint Bernadette has been one of the best decisions we've made for our children's education and well-being. We are grateful to be part of a community that truly feels like family.

Message From a Teacher

Preschool and Pre-K is an exciting milestone for both children and their families, and it is a privilege to be part of these important years of growth and discovery. Our Preschool and Pre-K classrooms are filled each day with laughter, curiosity and meaningful opportunities to grow in faith.

One of the greatest joys is witnessing the excitement in a child’s eyes as they learn something new and eagerly share their discoveries with friends and family. These everyday moments of learning help build confidence, creativity and a love of exploration.

It is also a blessing to watch our students sing at Mass, pray together and begin to understand the profound truth that Jesus loves them deeply. Through faith, learning and community, we strive to nurture the whole child and create a foundation that will support them for years to come.

We’re excited to welcome new families and grow our early childhood program. We invite you to visit our school, meet the teachers and see why we always say “we are blessed at SBS!”
